About the Band

The Modern Abstract is a musical and visual concept created by Anthony Roark.

The sound reflects a wide range of influences, from industrial and metal music (White Zombie, Filter, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Skrew, Marilyn Manson, Static-X, KMFDM, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Ministry) to 1980s synth-based pop (like Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, and Tears for Fears).

The lyrics explore personal and societal dispair influenced by the uncertain enironmental, social, and political situations we currently face.

The message is transmitted though vocal melody, 8-string guitar, groove-pounding drums, electronic synth overlays, a plastic bucket hit with a stick, and deep sub-bass residuals. Anthony believes this form of music is varied enough to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes.

The current project, titled T4MF2M (The Mind-Melting Mechanical Middle-Finger Music Mixer), includes 12 songs, all of which were written, performed, produced, and engineered by Anthony.

The goal is to find an entity willing to help bring this vision to people who don't know they're looking for it.

About the Artist

According to his kindergarten biography,

Anthony. He is handsome. He likes to play with big blocks at school. He likes to eat hot dogs. He likes to play with his dinosaurs. He likes to go to Roeding Park with his family.

Most of these things have changed, with the exception of the playing with dinosaurs part.
